Increases range from 28 cents in Minnesota to $2 in Hawaii, with an average hike of 67 cents across all 19 states. More than 8.3 million workers will benefit from the increases, according to the Economic Policy Institute (EPI). The mean minimum wage in those 19 states will rise to $14.57 in 2026, up from $13.90 this year. Three more states - Alaska, Florida, and Oregon - plus Washington, DC are scheduled to raise their minimum wages later in 2026.
"My practice exists in the tension between rest and labor, between the intimacy of touch and the vast systems that shape our world," says artist Malaika Temba. Merging digital and analog processes, Temba creates layered textile pieces in an exploration of migration, labor, gender, global trade, and daily life.
The evening will spotlight individuals and organizations whose dedication, advocacy, and leadership have strengthened workers' rights and opportunities across the NY Metro region. Guests will enjoy an evening of networking, international cuisine, a Bushmills whiskey tasting and celebration, all while honoring the power of labor to uplift lives and transform communities. Adding to the spirit of giving, 100% of the evening's raffle proceeds will go to Nontraditional Employment for Women (NEW), an organization that helps women access high-wage, nontraditional careers in the skilled trades.
Global capitalism begins with apparel.
