"That's obviously a tough loss for our football team, but we'll regroup," Daboll said. "We'll get the guys ready to play that are here and be as good as we can be. On the perimeter, I know those guys will do everything they can do to be as good as we can be. "But certainly, when you lose one of your better players, that's a big loss."
Daron Payne and free agent acquisition Javon Kinlaw - two players who have been scrutinized for their high-priced contracts - were both worth every penny during a dominant afternoon at the office. Rookie running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt made the immediate impact every Commanders fan was hoping for, and wide receiver Deebo Samuel Sr. looked like his 2021 second-team All-Pro self.
"I think he'll work so hard from Day 1 with him, and he'll fly to wherever he is in the offseason to work with him and get down their throws and timing and everything. They'll be an amazing pair for a long time to come," Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin told The Post on Monday.
