David Brian Pearce, a Los Angeles man who lured women into his orbit by claiming he was a Hollywood producer, was sentenced Wednesday to 146 years to life for the fatal overdose of a model and her friend, as well as the sexual assaults of multiple women over 16 years. Pearce, 43, was convicted in February on two counts of first-degree murder in the overdose deaths of 24-year-old model Christy Giles and 26-year-old Hilda Marcela Cabrales-Arzola.
Eddie Ruiz, 36, was reportedly blocking view of his cell at High Desert State Prison in Susanville where he is serving a lifetime prison sentence without the possibility of parole the afternoon of Oct. 17, according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. When Ruiz was ordered to remove the obstruction, correctional officers observed blood and cell mate Roman Ruiz with visible wounds, the CDCR stated in a news release.
A tattoo-covered brute who strangled his wife to death died by suicide in his New Jersey jail cell just one day after a jury convicted him of the 2021 murder, prosecutors said. Shawn Lichtfuss, 53, was found unresponsive in his lockup at Camden County Correctional Facility at 11:18 p.m. on Sept. 19 when guards making their rounds stumbled on the grim scene, the Camden County Prosecutor's Office announced Wednesday. Medical staff responded and rendered emergency aid, but the inmate was pronounced dead at 11:39 p.m.
However a 12-hour garda search of the Satchwells' home in June 2017 failed to locate the secret burial site of his wife Tina under the stairs. During the search operation from 7am to 7pm in 2017, the garda team photographed a shoddily built brick wall underneath the stairs. But they did not attempt to excavate it.
