Meryl Streep donated seven figures to the National Women's History Museum to fund storytelling projects and digital programming initiatives.
The nonprofit group that owns it would like to move the SS Red Oak Victory near the visitor center of the Rosie the Riveter/World War II Home Front National Historical Park, where the cargo ship which has been transformed into a floating museum is likely to draw more visitors. But with a project price tag estimated between $16 million and $20 million and no guarantee of where that money will come from, Richmond councilmembers have decided not to spend the $300,000 needed to study
Among the museum directors paying keen attention to the ruling, on 3 December, that all federal grants from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) would be reinstated, the director of the Seattle Art Museum Scott Stulen heaved a sigh of relief. In 2025, the Pacific Northwest's leading art museum saw all its federal funding cut. That represented the loss of an annual income stream, he says, of between $300,000 and $400,000.
Every year sees increasing interest in Vincent van Gogh, and this is a truly global phenomenon. The Dutch artist is now a megastar in East Asia-in China, Korea and Japan. A number of the city's museums are part of the program, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, MoMA PS1, the Studio Museum in Harlem, El Museo del Barrio, the Bronx Museum of the Arts, and the Queens Museum.
Collectors Rene and Veronica di Rosa first opened their private collection to the public in 1997. Since that time, the museum's exhibits and special programs have focused on established Northern California artists, including Robert Arneson, Joan Brown, Jay DeFeo, Roy De Forest, William T. Wiley, and others. The integration on its 217-acre campus of contemporary new work, outdoor sculptures, nature camps, hikes, the Winery Lake Vineyards, programs at the di Rosa residence, and other features elevates the institution into a culturally significant and ever-changing regional
