As all of Braves County knows, this is a very important off-season ahead for Atlanta after the past two seasons have ended well short of expectations. However, though the Mets and Phillies had better seasons than the Braves, both NL East rivals fell short of expectations as well. And like the Braves, both the Mets and Phillies could be progressing toward significant changes this off-season. However, one change that will not occur is that the Phillies will not be looking to trade Bryce Harper.
The Los Angeles Dodgers clinched a spot in the 2025 MLB postseason bracket thanks to help from the Philadelphia Phillies defeating the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday night. Though, as that game went final, the Dodgers were leading the San Francisco Giants in the bottom of the eighth inning. They entered the day needing one more win or a Diamondbacks loss to punch their ticket for October baseball.
LOS ANGELES -- Kyle Schwarber, Weston Wilson and Bryce Harper homered, and the Philadelphia Phillies clinched their second straight NL East title with a wild 6-5 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday night. It was the earliest division clinch in franchise history, two days sooner than the 2011 club that clinched on Sept. 17. The Phillies got it done in Game 151, second-fastest in club history behind the 2011 Phillies who did it in Game 150.
Schwarber's three-run shot off reliever Justin Hagenman in the seventh gave the Phillies a 7-1 lead and made him the first National League player to reach 50 homers this season. Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh leads the majors with 53. The fan favorite designated hitter came out of the dugout for a curtain call for a crowd roaring "MVP! MVP!" as "50 Schwarbombs" flashed on the big screen.
