A spacious historic house in the 1800 block of Leimert Boulevard in Oakland has new owners. The 2,579-square-foot unit, built in 1928, was sold on Oct. 14, 2025 for $2,811,000 which represents a price per square foot of $1,090. This two-story house offers a spacious layout with four bedrooms and three baths. Additionally, the house comes with two parking spots. The lot size of the property measures 7,857 square feet.

Three downtown Oakland properties, including the historic Tribune Tower that for a century has become one of the East Bay city's best-known landmarks, are mired in a $111 million loan default. Highbridge Equity Partners, a real estate investor that's active in downtown Oakland, added the three properties to its portfolio in recent years but now faces a foreclosure if it can't repay the loan from an affiliate of Rialto Capital, a finance firm.

Oakland remains competitive even as prices adjust: the median sale price was $753,750 in July 2025 (-13.4% year over year), with homes selling in around 29 days. The sale-to-list price is 105.7%, and 57.9% of homes sold above list last month. Oakland's median is roughly 58% above the national average.

A nearly 100-year-old building with expansive views of Oakland's Lake Merritt has been put up for sale again, this time after plans appear to have collapsed to develop it as a new hub for a San Francisco-based private club. The building, originally named the Women's Athletic Club of Alameda County when it opened in March 1929 and renamed the Bellevue in the late 20th century, was listed for sale on June 17 for an undisclosed price.

The 2,021-square-foot home was built in 1977. Inside, it offers three bedrooms, two full bathrooms and one partial bathroom. On the lower level, an open plan living room - featuring a fabulous retro fireplace - flows through a dining area to meet glass doors that open onto a large deck.
