DUBLIN A Hayward man was sentenced to 17 years to life in prison for killing his neighbor in 2024 after an argument that started with the victim's girlfriend telling him she wanted to take a shower at the defendant's apartment, according to court records. But things could have been a lot worse for Shawn Moayer, 36, who now sits in North Kern State Prison with the potential for parole eligibility in about 15 years.

Sally Allbeury from the parole board panel told the hearing on Wednesday that it had heard statements by Peter's loved ones in private about their concerns about parole being granted. "Those statements told the panel about the ongoing impact on the authors' of Peter's death and their concerns about Ms Connelly's potential release," Ms Allbeury said. "Each one has also requested in the event of Ms Connelly's release that certain conditions be put in place to protect them. "We found these statements extremely moving. "There can be no doubt that Peter's death has caused lifelong harm to those who loved him."

Gavin Newsom this week again denied parole for Patricia Krenwinkel, who has spent more than half a century in prison for her role in the 1969 Tate-LaBianca killings orchestrated by Charles Manson and perpetrated by his followers. Nearly five months after California's parole board found the 77-year-old suitable for release, the governor on Monday reversed the decisionand said Krenwinkel currently poses an unreasonable danger to society if released from prison at this time'.

According to court documents, Morton is on parole for an August 2022 carjacking conviction. He also has prior convictions for false imprisonment by violence, grand theft of real property and second degree robbery.
