ATLANTA -- Darnell Mooney's injury issues continued Sunday, as the Atlanta Falcons ruled out the wide receiver late in the third quarter due to a hamstring issue. Mooney came out of the game against the Washington Commanders due to the injury earlier in the quarter. He had one catch for 15 yards in the first half. Mooney missed all of training camp with a shoulder injury.
LaFontaine will be formally inducted on December 13 at UBS Arena when the Islanders face the Tampa Bay Lightning. The evening will include an on-ice ceremony with family, former teammates, and past inductees, while fans in attendance will receive a commemorative LaFontaine Hall of Fame coin. Bo Bichette will not return before the start of the postseason, Blue Jays manager John Schneider told reporters this evening (via Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet). However, Schneider said that a recent second evaluation on the shortstop's sprained left knee was encouraging enough that he could resume baseball activities later in the week. Bichette suffered the injury a week and a half ago when he collided with Yankees catcher Austin Wells in a play at home plate.
The Nationals announced Friday that infielder/outfielder Darren Baker, whom they had designated for assignment earlier in the week, went unclaimed on waivers and was assigned outright to Triple-A Rochester. He'll remain with the organization but will no longer occupy a spot on the 40-man roster. The 26-year-old Baker made his major league debut with Washington last September and went 7-for-14 with two doubles and five singles.
In true Harry Kane fashion, he celebrated his big day with another stellar performance. The striker put it on the plate for "The Chef" Serge Gnabry to head it in for the opening goal. It was a beautiful inswinging cross that found the gap between the opposition's defenders perfectly and in sync with the run from Gnabry. Minutes after the break, Kane set up Michael Olise with a line-breaking through-ball.
