Another setback for Firefly Aerospace's beleaguered rocket program
Firefly's Alpha rocket has achieved two full successes in six launches and suffered failures caused by plume-induced thermal damage to the first stage.
Plume-induced heating at a higher angle of attack ruptured Firefly's first stage; added thermal protection and reduced angle enabled FAA approval to resume launches.
