Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Will Smith has been on the injured list since Sept 9, but has been dealing with a fracture in his hand since a foul ball hit him about on Sept. 3. LA originally thought that it was a deep bone bruise, especially after initial testing was clean, but additional imaging revealed a hairline fracture. Smith is currently wearing a splint on his hand.
Bo Bichette will not return before the start of the postseason, Blue Jays manager John Schneider told reporters this evening (via Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet). However, Schneider said that a recent second evaluation on the shortstop's sprained left knee was encouraging enough that he could resume baseball activities later in the week. Bichette suffered the injury a week and a half ago when he collided with Yankees catcher Austin Wells in a play at home plate.
Brusdar Graterol has proven to be an invaluable member of the Dodgers bullpen since making his debut in 2020 as a 21-year-old. For parts of five seasons, "Bazooka" has compiled a terrific 2.69 ERA - allowing only 147 hits and nine homers in 181 innings pitched. The movement on his pitches are elite (as is his stuff). Graterol's ability to remain calm under pressure made him a favorite high-leverage selection for the coaching staff during the postseason.
