The San Diego State Aztecs (17-6, 11-2 MWC) will host the Nevada Wolf Pack (17-7, 9-4 MWC) after winning nine straight home games. On Saturday, in its last game, San Diego State defeated Air Force 88-54. With 16 points, BJ Davis was its leading scorer. Nevada was victorious in its previous game versus Fresno State, 69-59, on Saturday. Corey Camper Jr. led the way with 15 points, and also had five boards and three assists.
SJSU fired defensive coordinator Derrick Odum following a 55-10 loss against Nevada. Inside linebackers coach Bojay Filimoeatu will serve as the interim defensive coordinator for the final two games. During SJSU's loss to Nevada, the Spartans only had 270 total yards of offense, one yard more than their season low against Texas. Quarterback Walker Eget is coming off his worst game as an SJSU starter, only throwing for 74 yards and three interceptions.
Cal storylines: The Bears close out non-conference play, seeking their first 4-0 start since 2019, when they had their most recent winning campaign at 8-5. Cal has won three straight games by double-digit margins for the first time since the start of the 2009 season. Freshman QB Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele won ACC Rookie of the Year honors for the second time in three weeks after passing for a season-high 279 yards with three touchdowns in the Bears' 27-14 win over Minnesota. Senior cornerback Hezekiah Masses is one of five players nationally with three interceptions. Fourteen Cal receivers have at least one catch and six different players have caught touchdowns.
