A judge is probing whether a valid legal controversy exists in a lawsuit involving the president and the Justice Department/IRS.
On Tuesday, a day after the Justice Department revealed in court it had reached a settlement with Live Nation that a handful of states had agreed to, Judge Arun Subramanian held a hearing on the future of the case. He ordered Live Nation CEO Michael Rapino, DOJ Antitrust Division acting chief Omeed Assefi, and representatives of states that hadn't settled to stay at the Manhattan courthouse and attempt to reach a broader deal.
In their motion to intervene, the Batton plaintiffs claim that Anywhere picked the most ineffectual class lawyers to negotiate a settlement with in the hope that the district court will approve a weak settlement that will preclude other claims against the defendant. The questionable settlement amount here further underscores Plaintiffs' counsel's inadequate representation of homebuyer claims against Anywhere.
Lawyers for Donald Trump and Sundar Pichai have been in private negotiations for four months in hopes of resolving the president's 2021 "de-platforming" lawsuit against YouTube and the CEO, Business Insider has confirmed - and now the judge is demanding a public update. In an order issued from Oakland late Tuesday, US District Court Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers told the parties to provide "a substantive plan" for resolving the lawsuit.
