All trains into London Stansted Airport have been cancelled or disrupted on Wednesday morning due to signalling issues, National Rail has confirmed. A fault with the signalling system has affected CrossCountry services between Birmingham New Street and Stansted, and Greater Anglia services to and from the airport and London Liverpool Street. The disruption is expected to continue until 08:00 BST, National Rail said, while there are also substantial delays on the M11 and M25 in Essex, potentially impacting passengers.

London Stansted was named Britain's second-worst airport, with only 63.6 percent of flights on time in 2024 and an average delay time of 20 minutes.

The M11 was shut southbound between junction 10 Royston and junction 8 Stansted Airport due to a vehicle fire and spillage.

The West Anglian Main Line serves Stansted Airport with a dedicated spur, allowing for efficient rail transport of an increasing number of passengers.

Long queues have developed at Stansted Airport after an IT glitch impacted check-in, baggage, and security systems, causing significant travel delays for passengers.
