Kyle Palmieri's season-ending injury forces the Islanders to consider acquiring a top-six forward to maintain playoff hopes while avoiding reckless trades.
One of the biggest questions heading into this season was how Bobby McMann would adjust to being a full-time top-six player. He was coming off a disastrous playoffs, during which he registered only three assists, and was demoted to the fourth line. With how overmatched he looked, there were concerns about whether he could be a consistent contributor in the top six.
Asked by @jonassiegel if adding a top-six forward is still a target, Leafs GM Treliving says, "Yeah." "It's not from a lack of trying. You're always looking to try to improve your team. I think league-wide, it was a slower summer. . . We would like to add (a top-6 F)." - David Pagnotta (@TheFourthPeriod) September 17, 2025
