"OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said earlier this week that some of ChatGPT's new "compute-intensive" products would be limited to the company's most expensive subscription plan - which is the case for Pulse. OpenAI has previously said it's severely limited in the number of servers it has to power ChatGPT, and it's rapidly building out AI data centers with partners like Oracle and SoftBank to increase its capacity."
Pulse generates personalized, proactive reports inside ChatGPT that appear as overnight briefings, offering five to ten briefs to bring users up to speed each morning. The feature targets habitual morning routines, encouraging users to open ChatGPT like a news or social app. Pulse supports topic-specific roundups and personalized briefs based on user context. The feature launches first for $200/month Pro subscribers via a new tab in the app, with plans to expand to Plus and free users once efficiency improves. Pulse is part of a shift toward asynchronous, assistant-like features and will require significant compute capacity and data-center expansion.
