Mustafa Ayyorkun, a talented 21-year-old cyclist for Spor Toto, tragically passed away following a crash during stage 5 of the Tour of Iran. Despite initial positive progress after being hospitalized for a fractured vertebra in his neck, he died unexpectedly on June 3, 2025. The Turkish Cycling Federation closely coordinated with officials and the Turkish consulate in Iran during this ordeal. Ayyorkun was regarded as a significant asset to Turkish cycling, having been a two-time junior national champion and part of the national team since 2023. His loss has cast a shadow over the cycling community.
