Car crashes into Boston Common near Frog Pond, 1 hospitalized
"Our thoughts are with the individuals involved in this morning's accident on the Boston Common,"
"working closely with the City to assess the impact and support timely repairs so the area can be safely and fully accessible again."
"Our shared goal is to restore this space to full use as quickly as possible, ideally ahead of the busy summer season,"
A vehicle crashed into the Boston Common at the intersection of Beacon Street and Walnut Street near the Frog Pond at about 10:59 a.m. The car apparently sped down Walnut Street, crossed Beacon Street, and struck the stairs leading to the Common. The driver appeared to experience a medical emergency and was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The stairs and surrounding masonry sustained noticeable damage. Friends of the Public Garden stated the organization is working with the City to assess the impact and support repairs, aiming to restore full access before the busy summer season. The same stairs were involved in a 2014 incident when a 60-foot flatbed truck descended the steps after brake failure.
