The ICEBlock app alerts users to ICE agents in the area, allowing them to evacuate migrants who may be arrested. Curtailing illegal immigration has been one of the central domestic policies in Trump's second term at the White House. However, reports suggest that ICE agents, often in masks using unmarked vans, have also detained permanent US residents, visa holders and those involved in pro-Palestinian advocacy. Protests against immigration raids have occurred at ICE facilities and other key government sites across the country

You don't see encampments along our highways and streets like you see in other cities.

The city of Austin is no longer considering using artificial intelligence to help catch people breaking into cars and committing other crimes at parks and greenbelts, at least for the time being. Dozens of incidents, including car break-ins and stolen valuables, are reported at popular green spaces each year. Earlier this year, the city stepped up security measures, increasing police patrols and installing security cameras. Austin police in March also arrested 12 people in connection with car break-ins at public parks.

Chief Floyd Mitchell has sought to loosen the restrictions over the past year, with encouragement from Gov. Gavin Newsom, who agrees that the policy limits the Oakland Police Department's ability to track down suspects soon after crimes have occurred. The rules, which currently apply to vehicle pursuits at speeds over 50 miles per hour, were tightened by ex-Chief LeRonne Armstrong in 2022, eight years after a prior chief had first disallowed pursuits except for suspects in serious or violent offenses.
Daniel Lurie and the SFPD held a press conference Monday to toot their horns over a crackdown on dangerous stunt driving of dirt bikes, but the four arrests seems like a drop in the bucket given the huge groups we typically see doing this. The extremely frequent occurrence of dirt bike gangs joyriding on weekends in San Francisco is a particularly infuriating phenomenon for many of us in SF.

On Friday morning, all that remained of the sprawling homeless encampment on Manhattan Place was a giant pile of trash and items former occupants had made their home. The encampment, on a vacant lot in Koreatown, existed for months. It was home to roughly 10 people and drew repeated complaints from neighbors in nearby apartments and condos. They said the homeless neighbors there were noisy, aggressive and posed a fire risk when they broke into an adjacent streetlight to steal power from the grid.
While there are plenty of wild swimming spots within an hour's travel of London, it seems like local authorities want more to be done to encourage outdoor recreational swimming closer to home. As it stands, there are just eight safe places to swim in natural bodies of water around London, such as London's Royal Docks and Hampstead Heath. However, none of them are in local rivers amid broader health and safety concerns over water quality.
