Part of a Santa Clara park has been temporarily closed after the discovery of suspected rodent poison pellets, city officials said. The pellets were found at Jenny Strand Park on Howard Drive after a dog owner contacted the city Monday to report that their pet had eaten some of the pellets and became sick.
Jenny Black, who also lives on the street, said: "I couldn't quite believe that this loud noise was resonating off the buildings here. The noise was so much louder than a normal car. "It was persistent so I came downstairs and asked the driver what he was doing. "He said the car had brought him here and that it was a driverless car."
Nearly 150 incidents of dogs off leads chasing and attacking deer have been recorded over the past 28 months across London’s eight royal parks, a charity has said. Royal Parks, the body that manages the parks, has warned visitors that such behaviour risks serious injury to people, dogs and wildlife. The charity said owners must keep dogs on leads during deer birthing season which runs until 31 July in Richmond Park and Bushy Park.
A Lyft passenger who had apparently been in some sort of verbal and physical altercation with his driver was killed after engaging the driver in a foot chase on I-80 in Vallejo early Saturday. The man was killed while running on the shoulder of the eastbound freeway near Tennessee Street by an Audi, and the driver said she did not see him until it was too late.
U.S. Rep. Lateefah Simon announced a $500,000 federal allocation for firefighters in Berkeley and several nearby communities to train together. Firefighters from Albany, Berkeley, El Cerrito, Kensington, and Richmond have formed a consortium to share facilities and enhance training efforts.
