A shooting in Oakland's Fruitvale neighborhood Saturday night left a man severely wounded, according to police. The shooting occurred just before 7 p.m. Saturday evening in the 1700 block of Fruitvale Avenue, police officers stated. The man who was wounded was transported to a local hospital and was reported to be in grave condition, according to Oakland police. The shooting occurred after the man became involved in a confrontation with a group of men.

Skyline High School in the Oakland hills was placed on lockdown Friday morning after a report that a student brought a gun onto the campus, authorities said. Initial reports were that a student had been detained but no gun had been recovered as of 9 a.m., authorities said. Police received a 911 call about 8 a.m. from someone reporting a male student had brought a gun onto the campus, which is at 12250 Skyline Blvd.

OAKLAND - A person was in critical but stable condition after being assaulted Thursday near Lake Merritt in Oakland, police said. The incident happened just after 11:45 a.m. in the area of Alice Street and 19th Street, according to the Oakland Police Department. Officers arrived to find the victim suffering from injuries caused by a blunt object, police said. Paramedics took the victim to an area hospital.

Authorities are investigating a hit-and-run collision involving an AC Transit bus Wednesday afternoon that left multiple hurt in Oakland. A spokesperson from AC Transit said the incident occurred shortly after 12:35 p.m. at 16th Avenue and International Boulevard when the driver of a southbound car collided with one of the agency's busses after driving into a "bus only" lane and attempting an illegal U-turn.

He reportedly told Oakland police that he put a hand on his daughter's waist to usher her out of the home after asking her to leave, and he claimed that she then snatched his cellphone. OAKLAND A motorcyclist died after colliding with a vehicle Sunday night, authorities said. The collision occurred at about 10:49 p.m. at the intersection of Hegenberger Road and Hamilton Street in east Oakland, according to the Oakland Police Department. Police said that the motorcyclist, traveling southbound on Hegenberger Road, failed to stop at a red light and collided with the passenger side of a Volkswagen Jetta that was driving westbound through a green light on Hamilton Street.

With just weeks to go until its October 4 parade, its funding is gone, according to OBCA Treasurer Wilbert McAlister. He says the expenses to put the show on are piling up fast. "We got a stage coming out here and a canopy, and that's like $2,100. We got porta potties coming out here, that's like $700-$800. Hongmei Chen, a 54-year-old single mother, was biking from her job in Oakland to her home in Berkeley on the afternoon of Aug. 17 when she crossed the heavily trafficked intersection at 51st Street and Shattuck Avenue.
