Starbucks will permanently close 34 locations across New York City's five boroughs as part of a nationwide downsizing. The company announced a $1 billion restructuring plan and roughly 900 layoffs across North America, resulting in nearly a 1% reduction in Starbucks North America locations. Affected sites include high-traffic Manhattan corners and multiple Brooklyn and Queens stores, meaning some regular customers will need alternate routes for morning purchases.
