Dozens more Starbucks coffee shop locations close
"During the review, we identified coffeehouses where we're unable to create the physical environment our customers and partners expect, or where we don't see a path to financial performance, and these locations will be closed,"
"good progress, there is much more to do to build a better, stronger, and more resilient Starbucks."
Starbucks will permanently close 34 locations across New York City's five boroughs as part of a nationwide downsizing. The company announced a $1 billion restructuring plan and roughly 900 layoffs across North America, resulting in nearly a 1% reduction in Starbucks North America locations. The closures target coffeehouses judged unable to provide the expected physical environment or lacking a path to financial performance. Affected sites include high-traffic Manhattan corners and multiple Brooklyn and Queens stores, meaning some regular customers will need alternate routes for morning purchases.
