Fremont records its third traffic fatality of the year
"FREMONT - A 19-year-old San Jose man has died from injuries he suffered in a crash last week in Fremont, police said. A BMW M4 coupe and a tractor-trailer collided around 1:50 a.m. on Jan. 27 at the intersection of Auto Mall and Cushing parkways, according to the Fremont Police Department. The driver of the BMW and their passenger were taken to an area hospital."
"An initial investigation indicated that the BMW was traveling northbound on Cushing Parkway and the tractor-trailer was traveling westbound on Auto Mall Parkway when the two vehicles entered the intersection and collided, according to police. The front of the BMW hit the middle of the tractor-trailer and was pulled under the vehicle. The driver of the tractor-trailer, who was not injured, stopped at the scene and is cooperating with investigators, police said."
A 19-year-old San Jose man died from injuries sustained in a Jan. 27 collision in Fremont. A BMW M4 coupe and a tractor-trailer collided about 1:50 a.m. at the intersection of Auto Mall and Cushing parkways. The BMW driver and a passenger were taken to a hospital; the driver was treated and released, and the passenger died on Jan. 31. Initial investigation indicates the BMW was northbound on Cushing Parkway and the tractor-trailer was westbound on Auto Mall Parkway when they entered the intersection and collided. The BMW's front struck the middle of the tractor-trailer and was pulled under it. The truck driver was uninjured, remained at the scene, and is cooperating. Police say alcohol or drugs do not appear to be factors and traffic signals were functioning. The death is the city's third traffic fatality of the year.
