Some Canadian stores are labeling US imports with a T for 'tariffs' - and buyers are snapping up alternatives
Briefly

Some Canadian retailers have started labeling U.S. imported products with a 'T' to indicate potential price increases due to tariffs. This change comes as consumer preference for locally made goods rises dramatically, with a recent poll indicating 76% of Canadians opting for domestic products. This shift in buying habits is partly fueled by a spike in nationalism following controversial statements made by President Trump regarding Canada. Stores report higher sales for Canadian products as consumers consciously avoid U.S. imports, even if those might be cheaper.
"All the grocery stores now have Canadian and American labelled produce - and the Canadian produce is always gone," Vancouver-based shopper Isabella Zavarise told BI.
Canadians have seen a surge in patriotism since President Trump, in mid-March, made comments about making Canada the 51st US state - and that patriotism is reflected in the grocery aisle.
