Rainy Bay Area weather about to give way to sunny weekend
"The weather service in a radar image shared on social media also said that a healthy band surged through the South Bay before sunrise on Thursday. The weather service said Mineta San Jose International Airport reported .19 inches over a two-hour stretch overnight. As the system moves south, it also will carry with it the possibility for thunderstorms with lightning strikes."
"Small hail also may fall. By Friday, the weather service expects the rain in the region to be finished. The clouds will remain through Friday before sun bathes the area on Saturday and Sunday. Temperatures are expected to stay mild, with the hottest places expected to rise into the high 70s and possibly cracking 80 degrees over the weekend."
A pair of cold fronts produced scattered showers across the Bay Area since Monday, with the second system shifting south toward the central coast. Rain fell steadily but mostly lightly through Wednesday night into Thursday, heaviest in the North Bay and Mount Tamalpais. A radar band surged through the South Bay before sunrise and Mineta San Jose International Airport recorded .19 inches overnight. The moving system carries a 10–20% chance of thunder and lightning along the central coast, with small hail possible and the highest thunder risk in San Benito County. Rain should end by Friday, with clouds Friday and sun and mild temperatures over the weekend.
