'Zootopia 2' hits $1 billion at the global box office in record time

"LOS ANGELES -- Disney's "Zootopia 2" will cross the $1 billion mark at the global box office after only 17 days since its release. The film has earned $986.1 million globally thus far ($232.7 million domestic and $753.4 million international), and it will become the second $1 billion title to reach this milestone this year, after Disney's "Lilo & Stitch." "Zootopia 2" will also reach the mark in the shortest amount of time among all animated Motion Picture Association (MPA) releases and all PG-rated films."

The movie opened over Thanksgiving with a five-day global animated opening record of $559.5 million, the biggest opening in Disney animation history. The studio now has five billion-dollar titles since 2013. Zootopia 2 is in theaters while Zootopia and Zootopia+ stream on Disney+.
