The Simpsons Is Getting Another Movie

Hey, we may not get more Spider-Man, but more Spider-Pig is always welcome. Disney and 20th Century Studios confirmed The Simpsons 2 with a poster on September 29. "Homer's coming back for seconds," it reads, and the "all-new movie" is set for release on July 23, 2027. Initially, that date was to be taken by a yet-untitled Marvel film - but now there's nothing between 2026's Avengers: Doomsday and 2027's Avengers: Secret Wars, both of which were postponed to December from May.

'Woke' films do not automatically 'go broke' at box office, new study finds

Each year, a lucky handful of major, mainstream movies are inundated with predictions that they will flop commercially due to their inclusion of progressive themes, values or characters. Most recently, Superman was hit by such claims after director James Gunn referred to the superhero as an immigrant, with even Dean Cain, former Superman actor, hitting back at Gunn's characterisation of the crime fighter. Go broke, though? Not quite: Superman is one of this year's highest earners at the box office.

This is the first time I've not thought about the box office': Dwayne Johnson on wrestling, reinvention and the role that could redefine him

There are people-pleasers and then there is this affable brawler-turned-actor, who appears to regard the contentment of the world's multiplex-goers as his personal responsibility. Whether in vehicles comic (Central Intelligence, Baywatch), family-oriented (Jumanji, Jungle Cruise), four-wheeled (the Fast & Furious series) or disaster-based (San Andreas, Skyscraper), he is a rip-roaring razzle-dazzler, shiny of scalp and tooth, and so colossal that he isn't merely the circus showman but the whole damn big top too.

Weapons' regains the top spot as the summer box office winds down

How appropriate that a movie that's celebrating its 50 years, an all-time classic, Jaws, should be as relevant today as it was when it opened, Dergarabedian said. It's so great because we need every dollar to contribute to the bottom line for this summer. The rerelease helped boost a summer with earnings likely coming in at $3.7 billion, just under last summer. Still, this year will miss the typical pre-pandemic summer box office benchmark of $4 billion, Dergarabedian said.
