Charity Series Of Poker Hosting Las Vegas Tournament To Support Neurodivergent Youth Hockey - Poker News
"I know some people may think a kids' hockey team isn't as impactful as many of the amazing non-profits we work with, but I assure you, it may be more so."
"These neurodivergent children need an outlet and a place to belong that they have a hard time finding around neurotypicals. We want to help pay for ice time, gear, and travel to tournaments so they can play against other special hockey teams since they're the only one in Nevada. Ice hockey was one of the only things that helped steer me off a dark path as a kid, and being able to coach my autistic son on this team has been a dream come true for me."
Charity Series of Poker returns to Las Vegas with Hearts In The Crease, a fundraiser for Vegas Golden Chariots Special Hockey, Nevada's only competitive hockey program for neurodivergent youth. The tournament raises money to cover ice time, equipment, and travel so children can compete against other special hockey teams. The event takes place Feb. 7 at Via Brasil Steakhouse with a free 5 p.m. poker lesson, rodizio dinner and open bar at 5:30, and a 7 p.m. tournament start. Rebuys and add-ons are available in early levels. Entry pricing is $200 for poker with dinner and open bar, $150 for dinner and open bar only, and $100 for rebuys and add-ons. Players will compete for three Margaritaville Cruise packages, more than $10,000 in donated prizes, and a silent auction featuring signed memorabilia and experiences. Confirmed guests include Katie Morgan, Rebel Lynn, and 'Fat' Mike Burkett. Founder Matt Stout cites personal experience coaching his autistic son and the impact of hockey on youth.
