"Yes, it is. It is. I think even early on, when he wasn't right, he was still taking walks and getting on base. But I think right now, and tonight was a classic example, I think he's just trying to swing out of it. And so that's just apparent. A lot of hitters, when they are scuffling, they want to kind of swing out of it. And so tonight was one of those nights."
"I think just over-anxiousness. I really do. I think that today on the field, he was trying to work to the big part of the field. And I thought he had a good practice on the field. And I think seeing every single at-bat that he's taken this year, it just seems like there's a lot more balls to the pull side. A lot more balls on the right side of the infield than there has been in the last couple years. So that's kind of telling me that there's a little over-anxiousness, in my opinion."
"Actually, I thought the BP, the intent was good. I thought the homers to the big part of the field were really good. And"
Shohei Ohtani went 0-for-5 with two strikeouts in a 9-3 loss to the San Francisco Giants, extending a hitless streak to nine consecutive at-bats. His recent performance includes a 4-for-38 (.105) slump over his last 10 games dating back to April 29. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Ohtani appears to be trying to swing out of the slump, showing over-anxiousness at the plate. Roberts noted Ohtani has been hitting more balls to the pull side and the right side of the infield than in prior years. Ohtani took batting practice on the field for only the third time this season, hitting several balls into the stands, including one that cleared the Right Field Pavilion roof, but he did not translate that into game results.
