She was arrested on August 22 at 8 p.m. for publicly receiving oral sex from a man named Vincent Crews near the car wash area of a grocery store gas station. Czaplinsky explained she had no other place to conduct such acts. Police found empty beer cans and a bottle of vodka near the couple and said that they "exhibited signs of impairment and appeared heavily intoxicated" with staggered walking, slurred speech, and swaying while standing still."
