Howard Wang, 43, is currently being held without bail at the Martinez Detention Facility after being arrested on suspicion of a double homicide on Friday, according to a news release from Walnut Creek police. Homicides are rare in Walnut Creek, with the last reported homicide occurring in November 2023, according to the police department's crime statistics.

A 19-year-old man was arrested in connection to an East Flatbush shooting that occurred Friday afternoon, according to police. Authorities say Justin Mallar is accused of shooting a 52-year-old woman in the ankle on Utica Avenue around 4 p.m. She was hospitalized and is expected to recover. The charges against Mallar include attempted murder, felony assault, criminal possession of weapon, reckless endangerment, criminal possession of a firearm, menacing and misdemeanor assault. The events leading up to the shooting were not immediately clear.
A Salisbury man pleaded not guilty Tuesday after allegedly making bomb threats to an Everett city councilor, according to The Boston Globe. The Boston office of the FBI contacted Salisbury police on Tuesday morning regarding social media threats of firearm and explosive use, Salisbury police said. Salisbury police and the Northeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council collaborated to arrest the suspect around 12:43 p.m. that day.
Menlo-Atherton High School was put on lockdown this afternoon (Sept. 10) due to a threat to the school and a former student was arrested, Atherton police said. Someone called the police's tip line to let them know that a former M-A student had posted "concerning content" online about the school, according to a notice sent out by police. Police advised the school to lock down out of an abundance of caution.

After the conclusion of the nine-day, annual event in Nevada's Black Rock Desert, a woman reported on Monday that she was sexually assaulted by a man while at the festival, the Pershing County Sheriff's Office said in a news release. On Aug. 28, the Orange County Sheriff's Department got a report about threatening emails sent to St. Michael's Abbey in Silverado Canyon, according to a Sheriff's Department news release. Joshua Michael Richardson, 38, an Alabama resident, was identified as the suspect who sent the emails. He then allegedly visited the church in person and made more threats, which were reported by the priest to the Sheriff's Department. Deputies arrested Richardson for criminal threats and found body armor, high-capacity magazines, brass knuckles and knives in his car, officials said. He was booked into the Orange County Jail.
