A man allegedly pulled a revolver on a Q train rider, chased him off, then reboarded and left the subway system; NYPD seeks tips.
An 18-year-old Brooklyn man was shot and killed Sunday afternoon in Brownsville, police said. The victim, identified by authorities as Quahmir Cruz, was struck in the chest just after 3 p.m. in the vicinity of 375 Blake Avenue and was later pronounced dead at Brookdale Hospital. By Sunday evening, police had not released a description of the shooter or a possible motive.
The NYPD reported 19 homicides during April 2026, beating the previous monthly low record of 21 set in 2014 and 2017, marking a historic decline.
