A teenage boy has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run e-bike crash with a pregnant woman whose baby was born afterwards in hospital and remains in a serious condition. The collision, which involved an e-bike and a pedestrian in Herbert Avenue, occurred near to the junction with Manor Avenue in Poole at around 3.50pm on 26 January, 2026. The mother, who is in her thirties, went to hospital for treatment. Her baby, who has since been born, remains in hospital in a serious condition.

CHP is searching for a driver who was involved in a fatal hit-and-run of a pedestrian who was on the Embarcadero Road and Highway 101 on-ramp in Palo Alto. The hit-and-run happened around 5:00 a.m. Sunday on the eastbound Embarcadero Road on-ramp, according to CHP Officer Sophie Lu. The pedestrian was pronounced dead on the scene, Lu said. The Santa Clara Coroner's Office hasn't released the person's name.
An elderly man is fighting for life after being hit by an e-scooter whose rider then fled the scene. The pedestrian, in his 80s, suffered serious injuries in a collision with the electric vehicle travelling westbound along The Vale, Ealing. A force spokesman said: A man in his 80s was treated and taken to hospital where he remains in a life-threatening condition. Authorities allege Haney intentionally struck 79-year-old Axelrod with his car near the intersection of Commonwealth Avenue and Hereford Street around 8 a.m. Saturday. He allegedly drove onto the Commonwealth Avenue Mall and fled the scene after mowing the philanthropist down. Axelrod was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, Boston police said. His dog was also killed in the collision.

Welcome highlights a concerning and uneven trend in U.S. roadway safety: fatal hit-and-run crashes are rising disproportionately in certain states, particularly those with large metropolitan areas and dense traffic networks. Using National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) data from 2019 to 2023, the analysis reviewed more than 186,000 fatal crashes nationwide. Of these, 13,001 involved a driver who fled the scene, meaning 7% of all fatal U.S. crashes now involve hit-and-runs.
