Stoneham police are investigating a crash that occurred Friday afternoon and claimed the life of a child. At about 4:30 p.m., a 73-year-old driver was turning left off of Oak Street onto Royal Street when an electric dirt bike struck his car, according to the Middlesex District Attorney's Office and Stoneham Police Chief James O'Connor. The 13-year-old boy who was riding the dirt bike was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to officials.
A 13-year-old boy was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver in Dana Point while on his way to school Tuesday morning, authorities said. A boy with severe autism who died in a fire in Oshawa earlier this month was a joyful and friendly child who loved dancing to Disney songs and playing dress up, his mother said. A woman in a life-threatening condition is under police watch in hospital after a nine-year-old girl died and two other children were hurt. Police were called to a property in Middle Street, Islip, at 11.15am on Tuesday after receiving reports that three children had been assaulted. A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police said the nine-year-old girl was pronounced dead at the scene in the Oxfordshire village, while a boy and a girl were taken to hospital for treatment before later being discharged.
At about 7:10 p.m., first responders received calls about a crash at 400 Broadway. When they arrived, they found a white Chevy van and a blue Toyota RAV4 that had collided head-on and sustained serious damage, according to Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn's office. The van was "located centered in the northbound lane in the correct direction of travel," officials said. The Toyota "appeared to have crashed into the white van."
