Dubbed the Rec Room, it's East Brother's first taproom outside of the East Bay flagship. The 3,500-square-foot space will eventually have 15 beers on tap, including its popular Bo Pils, a light, crisp Bohemian-style pilsner. The taproom doesn't serve food, but people can bring sustenance from the Metreon food court inside to enjoy with their beer. On Friday, curious San Franciscans filtered into the new space. Some tested out the pool table and dart board.
This year's Folsom Street Fair-the 42nd installment of the world's biggest kink and fetish celebration-expanded to include several more blocks of demos, vendors, entertainment, and exhibitionism. The result was a more relaxed vibe than the cattle-herded feeling that's affected the fair as its become more popular. (Not that there's anything wrong with that if it's your thing!) While all the naughtiness was still intact, and perhaps even ratcheted up a few notches in response to the backwards, censorious times we're living in right now,

Born in 1939 in Germany, Betz arrived in the United States at 20 years old and bought his first restaurant in San Francisco eight years later in 1968. That restaurant was Hoffman's Grill, which was later designated a San Francisco landmark in 1981, before closing a few years later. Betz bought House of Prime Rib from its original owner, Lou Balaski, in 1985.

Daniel Lurie and the SFPD held a press conference Monday to toot their horns over a crackdown on dangerous stunt driving of dirt bikes, but the four arrests seems like a drop in the bucket given the huge groups we typically see doing this. The extremely frequent occurrence of dirt bike gangs joyriding on weekends in San Francisco is a particularly infuriating phenomenon for many of us in SF.
