Upgrade works at South Kensington tube station will commence later this year to enhance capacity. The ticket hall will be revamped, doubling ticket barriers, and a disused platform will be restored to increase staircase capacity. The existing platform will serve westbound trains, while the restored platform will serve eastbound trains. Three new lifts will improve access. Funding comes from a redevelopment around the station, which includes refurbishing shops and flats. Despite local opposition, planning approval was granted in 2023, allowing the project to proceed.
