Dodgers win G1 behind dominant Snell, HR barrage
"The Los Angeles Dodgers ended a lethargic, inconsistent regular season in dominant fashion, reeling off 15 wins in a stretch of 20 games. All told, they finished with 93 victories, their lowest total in seven years and a far cry from the wins record so many outsiders pegged them for at the outset. It forced them to play in the initial wild-card round for the first time since Major League Baseball's postseason format expanded."
"The Dodgers chased young Cincinnati Reds fireballer Hunter Greene after just three innings in Game 1 of their NL wild-card series Tuesday night. Teoscar Hernandez and Shohei Ohtani each homered twice, five different hitters collected multiple hits, and Blake Snell dominated in his Dodgers postseason debut, allowing just two runs in seven innings. If not for a faulty bullpen, the Dodgers' introduction to the 2025 postseason would have been a laugher."
The Los Angeles Dodgers finished the regular season with 93 wins after a late surge, winning 15 of 20 games, and entered the expanded-format wild-card round. In Game 1 against the Cincinnati Reds, the Dodgers chased Hunter Greene after three innings as Teoscar Hernandez and Shohei Ohtani each hit two home runs and five different hitters recorded multiple hits. Blake Snell allowed two runs across seven dominant innings in his Dodgers postseason debut. Ohtani produced a 117.7 mph leadoff line-drive homer and a 454-foot blast, becoming the first player in the Statcast era with a 450-plus-foot and 115-plus-mph homer in the same playoff game. A shaky bullpen limited a larger margin, but the victory left Los Angeles one win from advancing to the NLDS against the Philadelphia Phillies.
