Daily Schmankerl: Manchester United could challenge Bayern Munich for Dusan Vlahovic; Ibrahima Konate could stay at Liverpool; Jadon Sancho on the move...for free?; Julian Brandt to ink extension with Borussia Dortmund; and MORE!
"The never-ending carousel of strikers at Manchester United could still be spinning, despite the acquisition of former RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Šeško - and Bayern Munich could be affected. With Šeško not immediately meeting expectations, Manchester United might be looking at Juventus free-agent-to-be Dušan Vlahović as its next target. At this point, Vlahović could be Bayern Munich's No. 1 option to replace Harry Kane should the Englishman leave the club during the summer:"
"Manchester United were in the market to bring in a new striker not too long ago. Such has been the case at Old Trafford, where they have been shuffling the #9s quite too often. We saw the Manchester Reds bringing in Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee before concluding that neither is working way too fast. While the former was shipped off to Napoli in the summer, the latter has stayed but is on the fringes at Carrington."
"That is where the decision-makers at M16 went on to bring Benjamin Šeško to Manchester United in a headline transfer. But the former Red Bull Leipzig striker has found it difficult to fit into the pace and power of the English top tier. He has found it difficult to penetrate in behind the centre backs (something he used to do quite easily before joining United)."
Manchester United continues to search for a consistent No.9 despite signing Benjamin Šeško, as recent forwards Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee failed to deliver. Šeško has struggled to adapt to Premier League pace and power and to get in behind centre-backs as he did previously. Manchester United are reportedly considering Juventus striker Dušan Vlahović as another target. Vlahović could also become Bayern Munich's primary candidate to replace Harry Kane if Kane leaves during the summer. Kane's upcoming decision could trigger a rapid transfer search by Bayern due to limited elite centre-forward options.
