Google Pixel Watch 4 now supports new gestures and has better smart replies
"Google's latest update for its Pixel Watch 4 brings with it two new features. First, you get more gestures. These were revealed recently through a deep dive into some code."
"You can now double pinch and use a wrist turn to control various features of the watch without ever touching the screen. Examples include scrolling through notifications, dismissing them, snoozing alarms, managing a timer or stopwatch, pausing music, selecting a smart reply, answering and ending phone calls. On-screen hints will pop up to let you know when you can use these gestures."
"Second, smart replies are now enhanced for both the Pixel Watch 4 and the Pixel Watch 3. The new smart replies use the on-device Gemma-based language model, which is twice as fast and almost three times more efficient in memory usage compared to the previous one."
Pixel Watch 4 gains new gesture controls including double pinch and wrist turn to operate the watch without touching the screen. Gestures can scroll through notifications, dismiss them, snooze alarms, manage timers or stopwatches, pause music, select smart replies, and answer or end phone calls. On-screen hints indicate when gestures can be used. Smart replies on Pixel Watch 4 and Pixel Watch 3 now use an on-device Gemma-based language model. The Gemma-based model runs twice as fast and uses almost three times less memory compared to the previous model, improving responsiveness and on-device efficiency.
