On June 8, at the WorldPride DC's TRÈS CHIC Tea Dance, DJ duo SIDEPIECE will perform, embodying the joyful spirit of LGBTQ+ pride amidst a backdrop of protest against anti-queer policies of the Trump administration. Their performance signifies both a celebration of queer culture and a commitment to inclusivity within the broader music scene. Sidepiece recognizes the importance of their role in uplifting the history and roots of dance music, honoring its connections to queer and Black cultures. The event merges the fight for rights with the joy of community and identity.

I grew up around queer people. My parents are artists. Some of their best friends are gay. That was always my world.
