Jennifer Noble described how the string cut her and struck fellow cyclist Robby, necessitating his ICU hospitalization. Local residents have voiced worries about discarded strings from kite battles, which often involve coatings that make them dangerously sharp. Noble urged for more awareness regarding the dangers of kite fighting, stressing that without safe practices, serious accidents are bound to happen.
If part of kite fighting is that one of the kites gets cut off and flies away, I don't see how there's a way to do that safely. It's such a danger, it just feels like a matter of time before someone else gets hurt in this way.
Cyclist Jennifer Noble said that she did not see the thin string hanging across the path before riding into it, and that it cut her fingers and forehead before passing over her and striking fellow rider Robby in the throat.
