Leobardo Hernandez, 64, a Morton Williams stock clerk in Hell's Kitchen, confronted a person attempting to steal a case of beer. A struggle ensued and Hernandez was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Hernandez had worked more than ten years at the store and was a father of four and a grandfather. Morton Williams expressed condolences and called him a dedicated team member. Family members say confronting shoplifters was not his job and are pressing for security footage and explanations. The family is grieving and seeking justice and answers about the incident.
