In Villers-sur-Mer, France, two historic structures from Paris World's Fairs were moved to be repurposed as vacation homes. The article highlights the Madagascar Pavilion, built for the 1878 fair and later adapted to its new location. Architects Baptiste Legué and Diletta Buchetti undertook the challenge of modernizing the building while respecting its historical significance. They faced significant renovations, including a complete reimagining of the structure and replacing the roof, emphasizing the commitment to maintain its original charm amidst updates.
"We not only had to reimagine the entire structure of the building, but also replace the roof," says Legué, as he explains the scale of the project.
The building was the Madagascar Pavilion from the next World's Fair in Paris, which took place in 1878.
