"Lighting it up since 1975, San Francisco celebrates the 50th anniversary of the first giant public menorah outside Israel, a landmark Bill Graham project that went on to inspire thousands of menorahs around the world. This year's eight-night festival brings music, community gatherings, and nightly ceremonies honoring leaders and traditions across the Jewish community. The eight-night festival runs December 14–22, 2025, in Union Square. The celebration opens December 14 as "Bill Graham Menorah Day" with family activities, children's shows, Shamati Live, a Bill Graham All Stars performance, and a Menorah Lighting honoring civic and community leaders. Subsequent nights feature additional lighting ceremonies honoring the Klaber and Krug Family, the SFPD and the Dryan/Bernstein Family, and other community leaders. Special events include a Chanukah Party at NEMA with DJ Malki, YJP Chanukah LUX at Madarae, a Thrive City event, live music, and a Grand Finale lighting honoring the Russian Jewish-speaking community. A Menorah Car Parade follows the finale.
