Kesha pops in unannounced to another Bay Area bar
"In a video shared on social media, Kesha can be seen singing Patsy Cline's "Walkin' After Midnight" with the bar's pianist, Joe Mag. That number, a country classic from the '50s, is far cry from the electropop that brought her to fame in 2009. Though most fans might recognize Kesha for Auto-Tune-soaked tracks such as "We R Who We R," like T-Pain, she has an impressive voice."
"Staff at Martuni's confirmed that the artist visited the bar on Thursday around 10 p.m. "She was super cool, super down to earth," Caleb Spray, who works at the bar, told SFGATE. Spray said Kesha came with a friend, who sang "Rocket Man" with her, and that he played her Christmas music while she was in line for the bathroom."
"Kesha's visit to Martuni's appears to be her second stop at a Bay Area bar in recent months. In November, the artist posted a video of herself singing her breakout hit, "Tik Tok," at the Patio, a Palo Alto bar, although that performance was interrupted when the Patio's security asked her to get down from the seats she was standing on."
Kesha has been making surprise appearances at Bay Area bars, including an impromptu performance at the Patio in Palo Alto and a recent visit to Martuni's in San Francisco. At Martuni's she sang Patsy Cline's 'Walkin' After Midnight' with pianist Joe Mag, a country standard that contrasts with the electropop that brought her fame. Martuni's staff confirmed the visit around 10 p.m.; an employee described her as 'super cool, super down to earth.' She arrived with a friend who sang 'Rocket Man' and staff played her Christmas music while she waited for the bathroom. At the Patio, security asked her to get down from booth seats during a 'Tik Tok' performance.
