Alta, UT, Report: One "Extreme" Line + A Buncha Fun Groomer Laps - SnowBrains
"I started off the day by doing the steep, long sidestep through the Ballroom over to the Bad News Cliffs, where I'd broken my face in 2011. The sidestep was kinda brutal and well worth it for the little thrill of skiing a couple of steep turns into rocks and doing a little straightline out. From there a lapped the Collins side and Sugarloaf side of the Collins chair."
"The Collins side was steep and icy. The Sugarloaf side was flatter, rolling, and more groovy. The skate back next to the rope tow was easy as the snow was icy and fast. I got in a couple laps with lifties Harrison and Riley and reveled in their life of living up at the mountain. After 7 laps and about 15,000 vertical feet, I felt satisfied and headed home. Thanks, Utah!"
The day began with a steep, long sidestep through the Ballroom to the Bad News Cliffs, the site of a 2011 face injury. The sidestep was brutal but rewarding, offering steep turns into rocks and a straightline exit. The skier lapped both the Collins and Sugarloaf sides of the Collins chair; Collins was steep and icy while Sugarloaf was flatter, rolling, and groovy. The skate back next to the rope tow was easy because the snow was icy and fast. The skier shared laps with lifties Harrison and Riley, completed seven laps and about 15,000 vertical feet, and left satisfied.
