Revelstoke, BC, Buried in New Snow as Atmospheric River Brings Season Snowfall Total to 147" - SnowBrains
"Revelstoke Mountain Resort is pulling ahead in the storm pattern hitting Western Canada, stacking up one of the strongest early-season snow totals in the region with 374 centimeters (147") so far this winter. The resort reported 22 centimeters (8") of new snow in the last 24 hours and 35 centimeters (13.5") over 48 hours, according to an update shared on Revelstoke's official Facebook page."
"The mountain described conditions simply: "The snow is coming down, and it is DEEP out there...Winter is officially in full swing here in Revelstoke." More snow is expected through tonight and into next week as the current atmospheric river continues to feed moisture into the interior ranges -a pattern that has so far favored Revelstoke more than many other resorts across British Columbia."
"Outside the resort boundary, multiple natural and human-triggered avalanches have been reported. Revelstoke's conditions update recommends waiting until the new snow has had more time to bond before committing to avalanche terrain. Full avalanche information is available at avalanche.ca. Revelstoke also announced its first Locals Day of the winter, scheduled for Sunday, December 14. The event offers region-specific discounts while raising money for the Revelstoke Foundation."
Revelstoke Mountain Resort has recorded 374 centimeters (147") of snow so far this winter, with 22 centimeters (8") in the last 24 hours and 35 centimeters (13.5") over 48 hours. An ongoing atmospheric river is expected to continue bringing moisture and additional snowfall through tonight and into next week. Overnight snow will produce soft turns on the Stoke and Ripper Chairs but requires mandatory gondola downloading. Ski patrol will work to open additional terrain as conditions stabilize while closures remain in effect. Multiple natural and human-triggered avalanches have been reported outside resort boundaries, and waiting for snow bonding is recommended. First Locals Day is December 14 with region-specific discounts raising funds for the Revelstoke Foundation.
