Investigators continue to search for Joe Lynskey, a man abducted and murdered by the IRA in 1972. Recent findings at Annyalla Cemetery in Co Monaghan have uncovered more remains, prompting renewed investigation. The Independent Commission for the Location of Victims' Remains expressed caution, indicating that the new site is not a family grave and remains unrelated to Lynskey's known disappearance. While the Lynskey family has been kept informed, they are urged to manage their expectations due to past disappointments in the identification of remains.
Eamonn Henry stated, 'Following the recent exhumation at Annyalla Cemetery in relation to the search for Joe Lynskey, information came to the ICLVR indicating another small area of interest within the confines of the cemetery. This was not another family grave site.'
Henry added, 'We know only too well that the Lynskey family have had hopes raised before only to be bitterly disappointed and so, as ever, expectations have to be managed.'
