Lorenz Kraus, 53, admitted during a televised interview that he killed and buried his parents in their Albany backyard eight years earlier. Police recovered two bodies from the home after discovering the couple continued to receive Social Security payments despite not being seen for years. Kraus described the deaths as mercy killings and said his parents knew they were declining but did not explicitly ask to be killed. He was arrested after leaving the television studio and charged with two counts of murder; a public defender entered a not guilty plea on his behalf.
