Expo 2025 Osaka Pavilion null / Noiz Architects
Briefly

NOIZ has designed 'null²,' one of the key Signature Pavilions for Expo 2025 in Osaka, conceptualized by media artist Yoichi Ochiai. The structure symbolizes the intersection of physical and digital realities through its unique steel frame covered in reflective metallic membranes. Named after a programming term and a Buddhist idea of emptiness, 'null²' seeks to question perceptions of existence in the internet age, using a voxel design to create a dynamic architectural form that invites interaction and exploration of boundaries.
The pavilion's design encapsulates the theme of the Expo by merging the physical and digital worlds, portraying a new form of interaction with architecture.
Named 'null²', the pavilion explores the concept of emptiness in both digital and philosophical realms, bridging the gap between existence and non-existence.
Our design focuses on creating a dialogue between the architecture and its environment, emphasizing the importance of such interactions in the modern internet age.
By referencing voxels, we highlight the influence of digital mediums, reminding visitors of shared experiences within virtual worlds and their relevance today.
