About 30% Of The Order: 1886 Was Cut Months Before Launch, Says Ready At Dawn Co-Founder
Briefly

Ru Weerasuriya expressed regret over the development timeline of The Order: 1886, indicating that approximately 30% of the game was cut to meet its February 2015 release date. He acknowledged that the game's length was a critical issue, as some reviews indicated it took only six hours to complete. A functioning multiplayer mode was developed but ultimately discarded due to budget and time constraints. Despite hopes for a sequel, there was no follow-up on the project, and Sony had delayed the release of the game prior.
We really hoped to make a sequel to The Order: 1886... we cut ... I want to say 30% of the game a few months before it was released.
We did do a multiplayer in the first year of development... but we didn't have the budget and time to finish it... and hopefully bring it back in a sequel.
In the week leading up to the game's launch, a leaked playthrough appeared on YouTube... showing a person beating the game in five hours.
Sony did delay The Order: 1886 in May 2014, pushing the game back to 2015.
