"Microsoft has announced that the next Xbox Developer Direct broadcast is coming up in January 2026, but it won't have everything Microsoft plans to show next year for Xbox's 25th anniversary. Speaking to Variety, Head of Xbox Game Studios Matt Booty said, "We've got a lot of stuff that we're shipping" in 2026. As for the January 2026 Developer Direct, Booty confirmed that fans can expect to see the new Fable and Forza Horizon 6."
"Booty went on to tease that Microsoft has "a lot of other things that we'll talk about soon," and these projects will also release in 2026 for the 25th anniversary. "So it's going to be a real banner year for the brand and a banner year for some of our biggest franchises to show up across the industry," he said."
Microsoft plans a January 2026 Xbox Developer Direct that will feature the new Fable and Forza Horizon 6, but not all planned 2026 releases. Microsoft intends to ship many titles throughout 2026 for Xbox's 25th anniversary, with additional reveals expected beyond the January show. Xbox marketing indicates special plans for the anniversary year, and key Xbox Game Studios projects are scheduled for release in 2026. Significant franchise anniversaries occur in 2026, including Bethesda's 40th, Blizzard's 35th, Diablo's 30th, and Halo's 25th. Microsoft will release Halo: Campaign Evolved across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Some expect possible new console information in 2026.
